Notes
This foundational course provides school-based administrators and members of District Threat Management Teams (DTMT) and School-Based Threat Management Teams (SBTMT) with an overview of Florida’s Harm Prevention and Threat Management Model and its application within the school environment. Participants will review statutory requirements, the purpose and structure of multidisciplinary threat management teams, and the processes used to identify, assess, and manage potential threats of violence while supporting student well-being.The course emphasizes the critical leadership role administrators play in ensuring threat management practices are implemented with fidelity. Participants will explore strategies for facilitating multidisciplinary collaboration, maintaining accurate and legally sound documentation, and developing and monitoring Student Support Management Plans designed to address underlying student needs while maintaining a safe learning environment.
Aligned with the Florida Educational Leadership Standards (FELS) related to Professional and Ethical Norms and School Operations, Management, and Safety, this training reinforces that effective threat management is a core leadership responsibility—not simply a compliance task. Participants who complete the course may receive FELS credit for Threat Management training.
The student manual and additional resources are available within the course materials.
Class size limit: 40 participants.
