Notes
The Threat Management Exchange: Back-to-School Collaborative is an interactive session designed to support School-Based Threat Management Teams (SBTMT) as they prepare for the start of the academic year. The beginning of the school year often presents unique operational considerations, including team retraining requirements, the transition of transferring students, updating Student Support Management Plans with summer monitoring information, and ensuring continuity in monitoring protocols.

This session provides a collaborative forum where team members can review key procedures, discuss common challenges, and receive updates related to the implementation of Florida’s Harm Prevention and Threat Management Model. Participants will have opportunities to engage in open dialogue, ask questions, and work through practical scenarios designed to strengthen decision-making and reinforce effective threat management practices.

Discussion topics may include:

• Updates from the Florida Department of Education and state guidance
• Beginning-of-year threat management responsibilities
• Student transfers and continuity of monitoring
• Updating and managing Student Support Management Plans
• Documentation practices and case management considerations
• Common implementation challenges and practical solutions
• Best practices for maintaining fidelity to the threat management process

This session reinforces statutory expectations outlined in Rule 6A-1.0019, F.A.C., and is intended to strengthen each school’s capacity to effectively identify, assess, and manage potential threats while supporting students in need.

Participants are encouraged to bring questions, examples, and real-world challenges from their campuses, as the session will emphasize professional dialogue, collaboration, and problem-solving among threat management practitioners.

Format: This session is designed as a collaborative professional exchange rather than a lecture-style training.

Class size limit: 35 participants.
