Description

The purpose of this component is to provide participants with an analysis of curriculum modifications for
gifted learners based on the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) Standards for Graduate Programs
in Gifted Education. Participants will be able to demonstrate adaptations in the content, process, product,
affect, and learning environment of the classroom and curricula as they relate to gifted learners. Ultimately,
course participants will design units of instruction that are powerful, aligned, engaging, authentic, and
challenging. Participants will be able to demonstrate modifications in the content, process, product, affect,
and learning environment of the classroom and curricula as they relate to gifted learners.

Curriculum and Instruction Strategies for Teaching Gifted Students is one of the five competencies required for the gifted endorsement. This 10-week course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to modify and adapt curriculum to meet the unique needs of gifted learners. Rooted in the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) Standards, the course emphasizes the development of engaging, challenging, and authentic instructional units. Participants will explore differentiation, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and effective instructional strategies, equipping them to address the cognitive, social-emotional, and academic needs of gifted students.
